Proposed site
Evelyn Grace Academy, Brixton

Day One Trust, which runs ELAM in Bromley-by-Bow and London Screen Academy in Islington, is proposing to open Frameworks London, a satellite post-16 site co-located at Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton.

The site would open in September 2028 and offer Level 3 and Level 4 vocational study to 16–19 year olds, with a focus on applied AI, robotics, immersive media and entrepreneurship.

The proposal is being developed in partnership with Ark, which owns and leads Evelyn Grace Academy. Ark is running its own parallel consultation about its part of the partnership. You can find out more on the Ark website (link to follow when live).

We want to hear from students, parents and carers, staff, local schools and colleges, employers and the wider community. Your views will help shape the final proposal.

Partnership with Ark

A shared opportunity for Brixton

Day One Trust and Ark are working together to co-locate two educational settings on one site. This is a partnership, not a takeover.

Evelyn Grace Academy (EGA) will continue to operate in one half of the site, while Day One Trust proposes to bring specialist post-16 education to Brixton. The proposed sixth form would occupy the section of the building that is not currently used by EGA. It would operate independently, with its own entrance, teaching spaces and facilities. Secure internal separation would ensure that EGA and sixth form students remain separate throughout the school day.

How it works

  • ArkOwns and leads Evelyn Grace Academy, and that does not change.
  • Day One TrustWould use half of the site and run its own post-16 offer there.
  • Both trustsEach keeps its own identity, governance and admissions process.
  • ConsultationArk is consulting on its part of the partnership, and Day One Trust is consulting on the new satellite site. The two consultations run to the same timetable. You can take part in either or both.

Questions about Evelyn Grace

Will EGA students benefit from the co-location?

This proposal could create exciting opportunities for EGA students, including:

  • access to specialist expertise that would enhance GCSE learning
  • clear progression routes into Frameworks London for EGA students who meet the admissions criteria
  • exposure to emerging industries and future career pathways.

As technology and the world of work continue to evolve, we believe young people should have access to educational opportunities that prepare them for the future. Frameworks London aims to give students the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to succeed in higher education and employment in rapidly growing sectors.

Does this mean EGA is closing or reducing year groups?

No. EGA will remain open and continue to educate students in Years 7–11.

Will there be any impact on current students at EGA?

No. Current students will continue their education as normal. There will be no change to the curriculum, school day, teaching arrangements or pastoral support as a result of reducing the school's formal capacity.

Why is EGA considering sharing the site with another provider?

As a smaller school operating within a large building, EGA wants to make sure the site is fully used and continues to benefit local young people and the wider community. Sharing part of the building with an outstanding education provider would let more young people access high-quality educational opportunities, while keeping the site vibrant and financially sustainable in the long term.

Will EGA students and Frameworks London students mix during the school day?

No. If the proposal goes ahead, Frameworks London would occupy a separate part of the building with its own entrance, teaching spaces and facilities. Secure internal separation would ensure that EGA students and Frameworks London students remain separate during the school day.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is Ark being taken over?

No. Ark owns and leads Evelyn Grace Academy, and that remains the same. Day One Trust would be a partner, running its own offer on part of the site.

Will current ELAM students be affected?

No. ELAM in Bromley-by-Bow continues. The Brixton site would add to our provision, not replace it.

Will current Evelyn Grace students be affected?

Students at Evelyn Grace Academy keep their current places and courses. They can also apply for the Day One Trust offer if they choose to when considering a sixth form.

Who can apply?

Students aged 16–19 who meet the entry requirements. Entry is based on GCSE results and an interview. Full entry requirements are to be confirmed.

Will EGA students receive automatic entry to Frameworks London?

No. Frameworks London will have its own admissions process and entry requirements. However, EGA students may be prioritised within the admissions process, subject to meeting the published entry criteria.

Will there be fees?

No. Students will not pay tuition fees, as this is state-funded post-16 provision.

How will safeguarding be maintained?

Safeguarding remains our highest priority. Any shared-site arrangement would include robust safeguarding, security and operational procedures. Separate entrances, secure access controls and clear management arrangements would be in place to keep all students and staff safe.

Will there be jobs at the new site?

Yes. The site would have a mix of dedicated Brixton staff and staff who work across both sites.

Where exactly is the site?
How will students get there?

The nearest Tube station is Brixton. Brixton is also well served by TfL buses.

Why Brixton?

South London has strong demand for specialist post-16 education in technology and creative subjects, and Evelyn Grace Academy offers an existing site with space available through our partnership with Ark.

Where would the sixth formers come from?

Day One Trust's existing schools, LSA and ELAM, currently have 1,153 students from 29 of the 33 London boroughs and 16 local authority areas outside London, including 140 who travel from Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham.

Although we would anticipate a high uptake of local students, because the educational offer would be bespoke and of high quality we would expect an intake from across London, with 10% expected from outside London.

What happens after the consultation?

We will publish a report on what we heard. The governing bodies of both trusts will consider the feedback before deciding whether to proceed. Results will be shared with the Department for Education.

What happens if the proposals are approved?

If approved:

  • EGA's reduced capacity would be formally recognised
  • work would continue with Day One Trust and relevant stakeholders to develop Frameworks London
  • any necessary approvals, funding agreements and regulatory processes would be completed before implementation
  • further updates would be provided throughout the process.
What happens if the proposals are not approved?

Day One Trust will carefully consider all consultation responses before making any decisions. Feedback from parents, carers, staff, students and the wider community will form an important part of the decision-making process. The Department for Education is the key decision maker and will take into account all feedback received.
